What is Smart Access?

Smart Access is a subset of Internet-of-Things technology that focuses solely on secure, affordable, no-friction and intuitive entryway solutions. Think about it like this: if smart home is for your house – thermostat, lightbulbs, doorbells and the like – then smart access is focused on just the door (or doors).

Let's take a step back, to put this in perspective. ShowMojo coined the term Leasing Automation because we didn’t see a description (nor product) that carried the prospect effortlessly from submitting an inquiry on a listing to submitting an application. Instead, when we first started prototyping ShowMojo in 2009, all we saw was voicemail and inbox agony. In the same way, in recent years, we at ShowMojo see smart home and other heavyweight access solutions as a poor fit for the needs of many (though certainly not all) residential rental situations.

Smart access cuts out the unnecessary bulk and costs inherent in home automation but not required solely for access automation. Smart access means:

  • No equipment beyond the lock itself.
  • No dedicated Internet nor cellular connection.
  • Easy lock installation and removal.
  • Creation of access codes without physical proximity to an access device.
  • Operation of the access device (at least for unlock and lock actions) without any Internet nor cellular connection.

To satisfy this need, ShowMojo has developed and debuted MojoLock, for both ShowMojo customers and anyone who needs affordable smart access (without all the unnecessary stuff).
