This process details the procedure for changing the lock cylinder assembly in a VaultLOCKS electronic lockbox.
Please note: This process requires strictly following these instructions and taking care to observe notes, to ensure the proper function of the VaultLOCKS device after rekeying.
If at any point you meet resistance during these steps, DO NOT force any part or item into place. If you need further assistance, please reach out to ShowMojo Support.
Tools Needed
A screwdriver with a long shank #1 Phillips bit (magnetic is recommended).
1. Open Lockbox Insert key, open lockbox and place on work surface. |
2. Remove Cover Screws
Remove the (6) cover screws.
3. Remove Cover Remove the cover by gently rocking it back and forth to release it from the rubber seal. |
4. Latch Cover in Door
Latch the cover into the door to keep it out of the way while you're changing the lock cylinder.
5. Keypad Flex Circuit
Check the key pad flex circuit after you remove the cover as it is possible to start to pull the flex circuit out of the PCB connector. This illustration shows the flex circuit mis-alignment to the PCB connector. |
6. Flex Circuit Reinsertion To re-insert the flex tail, release the lock on the connector by lifting it up. Once the connector is unlocked, slide the flex circuit into the connector until it bottoms out. Ensure that you can visually see that the flex circuit is no longer mis-aligned. |
7. Flex Circuit Connector Lock After the flex tail has been re-inserted, press the connector lock down or closed. |
8. Gasket Inspection and Reinsertion Check the rubber seal to ensure it has not pulled out during removal of the cover. If it has been pulled out, press it back into the seal track. Now you're ready to change the lock cylinder. |
9. Lock Cylinder Components This illustration shows the components of the lock assembly. 1) Lock cylinder/housing assembly 2) Retaining Screw and Tooth Washer 3) Lock Actuator |
10. Lock Cylinder Actuator The lock cylinder is retained by the lock cylinder actuator. Remove the screw from the lock cylinder. |
11. Remove Screw - Lock Cylinder The actuator has a tight fit to the lock cylinder. Loosen the screw a couple turns and push the screw driver into the lock cylinder to press the lock cylinder from the actuator. |
12. Slide Lock Cylinder Out Once the screw has been removed and lock cylinder separated from the actuator, the lock cylinder assembly slides out. NOTE: It may be easier to leave the actuator and screw in place while changing out the lock cylinder. This prevents you from having to handle small pieces that are coated with lubricant. |
13. Switch Lock Cylinder Weather Cover Slide the lock cylinder cover off the old lock cylinder and slide it onto the new lock cylinder. |
14. Lock Cylinder Index Slot NOTE: The lock cylinder housing has a key or notch to prevent it from turning in the housing. The lock cylinder cover aligns with this notch as does the rear housing when inserting it back into the lockbox. |
15. Replace Actuator and Screw Slide the lock cylinder into the housing and re-install the actuator and screw. NOTE: Ensure the key is in the center position when installing the actuator. The key needs to be in the center position and positioned vertically when inserting. You know it is in the middle position by either: the key is removable or the key is turned in both directions and re-centered. NOTE: The tab of the actuator will be pointing down when positioned correctly. Lightly tighten the screw. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. |
16. Release and Replace Cover Release the cover from the door latch. Using your finger, depress the latch to release it. Carefully slip the cover back into position over the rubber seal. NOTE: Ensure that the cover slides over the flex circuit and does not disturb it when re-installing the cover. |
17. Replace Cover Screws Replace the cover screws. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. |
