Best Practices for the Pre-Showing Questionnaire

ShowMojo's prospect screening functionality is one of its more powerful (and complex) features. Adding screening questions is deceptively simple, but understanding how these screening questions might impact scheduling and your workflow could be another matter entirely. Here's some important tips to keep in mind:

Do not use more than three or four screening questions unless you really need to. The number of screening question will impact your total online scheduling outcome. If there's lots of screening questions, prospects will try to call or email you directly, or even go somewhere else. If you really need that many screening questions, then be prepared have someone answering phone calls and emails and telling prospects they need to schedule online.

Do aggregate multiple "restrictors" into one question. Here's an example: "Have you been evicted in the last five years, filed for bankruptcy in the last five years, or been sued by a previous landlord in the last three years?" Put that as your very first question. Think of it as restating you application criteria.

Do reduce your total number of questions by using the more details functionality on the Custom Dropdown screening question to ask multi-part questions in a single question.

Do not ask for credit card authentication or drivers license verification unless you actually need it. For example, for lockbox showings.

Do explain why you need certain information, especially if it is unusual. For example, if you need a drivers license before completing any showing because it is a corporate rule, please say so.

Do put your required questions at the top of the list and your optional questions at the bottom.
